As teachers, you see students with all types of skills and interests pass through your classrooms over the years before they graduate from high school. You also know there is no cookie cutter formula for what a post-secondary education looks like for your students once they leave your classroom after graduation.
One career path for your students to consider as they are making their post-graduate plans is to join a Montana Registered Apprenticeship program and join the workforce immediately following graduation.
The Montana Department of Labor & Industry works with employers across the state to offer Montana Registered Apprenticeship programs for students who choose to transition directly into the workforce after graduation. Apprenticeships can be the bridge between their graduation and a life-long fulfilling career.
Montana Registered Apprenticeship programs provide on-the-job training, along with college level training instruction to ensure participants are fully prepared to enter a new career upon completion of their education. In addition, apprentices begin as full-time employees and begin earning income from their first day of training. Certain professions require Montana Registered Apprenticeship participation before applying for a professional license in our state.
Once apprentices complete their trainings with an employer, they are issued the nationally recognized Apprenticeship Completion Certificate from the Montana Department of Labor & Industry with their competencies. This certificate carries the same weight as a diploma.
As Montana’s workforce continues to adapt through the years, Montana Registered Apprenticeship programs will continue to be an important avenue for preparing students who wish to join our state’s labor force immediately after graduation.
